Karthikeya Acharya is a design researcher based in Helsinki and Bangalore. The definition of what he does keeps changing, but he's trained first as an architect from the Manipal faculty of architecture in India and then has a master's in Interaction Design from IDII+Domus Academy from Milan. His focus and interests are in conceptualizing and designing the dynamics of sustainable and self governing systems. He has been working with Nokia Design and at the Nokia Research Center in India as a User centric design researcher. Now he is walking on the tight rope balancing between the industry and the academia by joining the University of Art and Design, Helsinki to pursue his doctoral research in designing sustainable tools for living with the aid of mobile technology. When he decides to run away from the industry and the academic world, which is once or twice a year, he disguises himself as an artist and uses content from his field research and converts them into art installations. He has exhibited his installations at British Council, the India Habitat Center, New Delhi, at the Bombayseers Festival in Lille, at the Pixelache festivals in Kiasma, Helsinki.
