"The moment we saw that entry, we fell in love with it and couldn't stop thinking about it", said the president of the jury Ian Willingham about the winning entry Urban calendar for the city of Sarajevo. Author of the winning entry Ajna Zatrić graduated at Sarajevo Art Academy.
Congratulations, Ajna! For going home with Magdalena and for being able to come to Maribor, in spite of all the visa complications! :)
This is how Ajna expains her work: "Image of the city is the self-portrait of the people living in it. Sarajevo is creatively hyperactive, but visually gray, monotonous postwar city convulsively struggling for its new identity. Urban Calendar is work in open public space integrated into urban fabric, that wishes to change this.
Urban Calendar is imagined as the city’s attempt of making a new promise to its people! Promise of future, attempt to encourage them, make them laugh, or delight them when they unexpectedly run into words dedicated truly to them. Urban calendar is the new model of belief into eternal values.
The 'hall of fame' for this year will be available on-line from Monday on and they will be marked with green dots from tomorrow on in galleries in Maribor.
Important notice: In the cases where jury members were mentors or advisors to the entries, submitted to the Magdalena festival competition, they abstained from voting.
